About

Dr. Yanina Blanchard

I've been practicing psychology for more than 20 years. I earned my Bachelors degree in Psychology and my Masters degree in Research Psychology in my home country, Peru. After practicing as a licensed psychologist in Lima for 5 years, I moved to the United States to pursue my second Masters degree and my Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology at  William James College in Newton, MA.

Throughout my career, I have worked in diverse clinical settings including community mental health centers and college counseling centers. I completed my pre-doctoral internships at Harvard Medical School-affiliated training programs at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital (now MGH Brigham) and my postdoctoral fellowship at the Cambridge Eating Disorder Center (CEDC) in Cambridge, MA. Currently, I’m a staff psychologist at Boston Behavioral Medicine where, in addition to providing individual and group therapy, I supervise psychology interns, postdoctoral fellows and social work fellows. I also teach seminars on Eating Disorders and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I love what I do, and I'm honored to be able to be part of my clients' healing journeys.

When I’m not working, I enjoy dancing and going to my Zumba classes, reading, taking long walks, spending time with my husband and my two kids, and participating in community events.

My approach

My approach to therapy is integrative and tailored to your unique needs. I draw from evidence-based models such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), while also incorporating psychodynamic, relational, and trauma-informed perspectives. I also integrate body-based approaches, drawing on somatic experiencing practices, and I am informed by polyvagal theory to help clients work with their nervous system in ways that foster safety and regulation. This allows us to address both the immediate challenges you’re facing and the deeper patterns that shape your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

Seeking therapy is a courageous step, and I commend you for being here. Healing and growth are possible, and you don’t have to do it alone. If you’re ready to take the next step, I’d be honored to support you on this journey. Please feel free to reach out, I look forward to working with you.
